Welcome to Nancy’s Outdoor Adventures!

A blog about hiking, bicycling, and traveling; the discoveries, observations, and scenic views.

Sunset at the Pacific Ocean

Have you seen a sunset and gazed at it in awe? Or noticed a spectacular view that made you say “WOW!”? When I slow down to observe what nature has to offer, I often find myself in a trance filled with wonder. This wonderment energizes my soul. It often happens while hiking on a nature trail after a stressful day. Taking time to “smell the roses” lessens my stress. I then find a sense of peace which makes it easier to continue my day.

Nancy’s Outdoor Adventures is a blog about exploring nature. I share what I have come across and learned on the hiking and biking trails. In addition, I include scenic views while on vacation as well as points of interest that I have stumbled upon.

Passion for the Outdoors

My name is Nancy Kringle, and I am from eastern Iowa, close to the Mississippi River. My passion for the outdoors began while growing up on a farm in rural Dubuque Iowa, during the 1970’s. While on the farm, I spent many hours outside doing things like hiking, chores, riding my bike, picnicking, and hanging out with family and friends.

Consequently, this passion for spending time outdoors has stayed with me through adulthood. I still enjoy spending time on the trails and discovering new things. The love of nature remains with me as I identify spring wildflowers or hunt for morels in spring, pick black raspberries and blackberries in summer, hike in the colorful woods during autumn, and take in the scenery as I travel cross country.

When I pay attention to my surroundings, I most likely will stumble upon something new each time I am out on a trail. I write about these discoveries and the adventures that led to them. The adventures occur while I am hiking, biking, or sightseeing in my county, state, or while I travel across the country on vacation. Thus, my blog includes my discoveries, the scenic views and other observations, with a bit of history and information about the areas I have been to.

Where the Passion Began

My love for nature and the outdoors began while growing up on a farm in rural eastern Iowa. As a teenager, my two siblings and I hiked in the pasture through the woods with our farm dogs. Oftentimes, we would hunt for morels, pick black raspberries and blackberries, and check the cattle in the pasture or as we called it “count the cows”. Sometimes we took a leisurely hike through the woods. As an adult, my love for the outdoors continued. Read more about Nancy in the “About Nancy” section here.
